Sex(ism)

It is well engrained in Christianity to call God "He," to assume the head of the household is male, and to perpetually cast down the role and voice of women in society by making them "submit" to the man. It is so pervasive that it is nearly impossible to differentiate between the remnants of patriarchal ancient Jewish society and the Roman Empire from the patriarchal characteristics of our modern society. It is possible, however, to uncover gems of powerful woman leadership, and to reveal the surprisingly matriarchal character of God the Creator and God the Savior.
